PESI provides quality smoke testing services.  Smoke testing identifies inflow and infiltration sources within the sewer lines.  In order to identify defects in the lines, the non-toxic smoke is forced into the sewer lines.  During the smoke test, breaks in the sewer lines will allow the smoke to escape.  Ordinarily, one line segment upstream and downstream of the manhole will be tested at one time.  Smoke testing is an important and easy task when trying to find inflow within the collection system.  Mouse over the pictures below for some hints of where I&I can be found.
Raw wastewater flows to the stream during wet weather events.
Broken laterals in a yard allow ground water to flow into the sewer lines
Rain gutters allow water to enter the sewer lines.
